Following the included drilling template will result in the keyboard tray sticking out from the desk edge by 4 inches. Had to redrill holes 4 inches deeper from desk edge to make keboard tray flush with desk edge, when fully retracted. Mouse tray shakes a bit more that expected, but is relatively solid. I'm happy with this purchase. Solid construction, ability to customize/adjust placement of the keyboard and mouse tray in all necessary dimensions. I had only one hitch during the installation. My desk has a front molding that required that I have the tray mount inserted in the sliding rail before bolting it under the desk surface. This made it a bit heavier than otherwise and made some of the holes a bit harder to get to for drilling and driving in the bolts. But I managed it OK. That said, I agree with reviewer 16cmD2 concerning the instructions. As must be the case with 16cmD2, I have no problem figuring things out but some people would have trouble installing this tray with the instructions provided. Of course the reason for few instructions is because 3M doesn't want to write lengthy instructions in multiple languages. 3M, that's the cost of doing business. In the instructions it says this keyboard tray, as well as Model AKT180LE, will not stow completely under the work surface. Of course it will if you don't want to use it while standing. Simply mount the track 5 1/2 inches back from the front edge of the work surface.
